The most important events in Venice
Remember that you are close to Venice, its history, and its traditions. The Redentore Festival, the Historic Regatta, the Film Festival, and the Biennale of Art or Architecture are unmissable events for anyone who loves art and culture.
Every year, on the third weekend of July, the Festa del Redentore transforms Venice into a unique setting of tradition, faith, and spectacle. Originating in 1577 to celebrate the end of the plague that struck the city, this historic event attracts thousands of visitors thanks to its evocative celebrations: the votive bridge connecting the Zattere to the Giudecca, decorated boats enlivening the lagoon during the famous “Notte Famosissima,” the magnificent fireworks display over the San Marco Basin, and the traditional Sunday regattas. An unmissable occasion to experience the most authentic atmosphere of Venice.
On the first Sunday of September each year, the Regata Storica di Venezia enlivens the Grand Canal of Venice with one of the city’s most spectacular and traditional events. This celebration dates back to the 13th century, when rowing competitions were used to train Venetian rowers, and it also commemorates the grand arrival of Caterina Cornaro in Venice in 1489. The event opens with a striking historical parade of 16th-century boats, participants in period costumes, musicians, and flag throwers accompanying the Doge and the Dogaressa. It is followed by the eagerly awaited rowing races, divided into categories and boat types, culminating in the spectacular gondolini race. The course runs from the Giardini di Castello to the finish line at the “Machina,” an elaborately decorated floating stage located in front of Ca’ Foscari, offering a unique setting in the world.
The Biennale di Venezia, a renowned contemporary art and architecture exhibition, attracts artists from all over the world, enriching the city with a vibrant cultural landscape. Venice’s fascinating museums and churches filled with artworks offer a journey through the centuries, telling the extraordinary story of the city. You will experience an extraordinary journey if you have the curiosity, eyes, and heart to discover and appreciate it.
The Venice Glass Week is an international festival dedicated to the art of glassmaking, founded in 2017 to celebrate, enhance, and promote this ancient and precious tradition. The ninth edition will take place from September 12 to 20, 2026, with events and exhibitions spread across Venice, Murano, and Mestre. A unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of artistic glass, between culture, creativity, and innovation.
